About Us

Quality Health Partners (QHP) is a five-year USAID project designed to provide evidence-based support to the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and a range of private institutions to improve the quality of health services in 30 of Ghana's most deprived districts, thereby contributing to improved health among Ghanaians, particularly in the areas of Reproductive and Child Health (RCH).

Our strategy develops capacity by providing support to Ghanaian institutions and health professionals, building on progress already underway, bringing best practices to bear where applicable, and maximizing the impacts of limited resources by systematically organizing them for the greatest impact. We work collaboratively through stakeholder groups and expert task forces to achieve consensus and drive positive change.

Our strategic approach to the QHP builds on a set of values that underpin the concept of assuring quality throughout the GHS. Quality health services will be pervasive and evident when:

  • Standards, guidelines, curricula, and tools are up-to-date, evidence-based, easy to use, gender sensitive, and reviewed regularly;
  • Clinical and management training, consistent with policies and standards, meets providers' needs and addresses the realities and challenges of service delivery;
  • Health workers are deployed, supported, and tracked through a rational and open human resource management system;
  • Managers and supervisors at all levels provide facilitative supervision and performance feedback, identifying and solving problems with staff; and
  • Health facilities at every level are clean, well-equipped, and staffed by caring providers who serve satisfied, repeat clients.
